Always cracks me up when people know going in it is going to be expensive (what in this area isn't other than chain restaurants?) and they still complain about the meal being expensive. I mean, this is Orlando, and this is a Disney related property, but don't expect Characters here. Il Mulino provided us with one of our best meals of the trip this time and well worth the cost. As the name indicates, this is Italian food-both fine and family style. Like everyone we started with the eggplant capanada and the Foccacio and Italian bread. I usually HATE eggplant, but this was outstanding...so great that I sopped up the plate with the bread. My daughter ordered a Caesar salad and we had fried calamari as an appetizer. According to my daughter the salad was good, but she would have liked a little more dressing-it didn't need to be swimming in it, but she wanted more than a hint of the flavors. The Calamari was good (the sauce had a little spiciness which was nice), but was a little salty and was just a bit oily. For dinner my wife ordered a Malbec blend and I had a Simi Cab-both were outstanding and nicely enhanced our meals. Excellent wine list! For our entrees - my wife ordered the Snapper, which was lightly broiled on broccoli rabe and tomatoes with a light garlic broth. Exactly as described. This is a non-pasta dish, but my wife absolutely loved it. Very nicely done. I ordered the Seafood Rissotto - very creamy, very tasty. Mussels, clams, only 2 small scallops, and a few shrimp and some calamari. I love rissotto, and this one was delicious, but I did bite into a little sand which I am SURE was from the mussels. the kids had Chicken parm (had to order 1/2 side of pasta) and Pasta with butter and garlic. It was great that they didn't bat an eye on the pasta request as it wasn't on the menu...my son was very happy). The Chicken Parm was HUGE, like the size of the whole plate, but was lightly fried and very well done-an easy meal to overcook, but this was tender and delicious. As you would imagine, we were stuffed when we finished so we skipped dessert, but did have coffee. They also provide you with homemade Lemoncello as a top-off to your meal. I love lemoncello, and have had the real stuff made by 80 year old Italian women...Il Mulino's was very tasty, though a tad too sweet, and a nice finish to the meal. Outstanding service-6 stars if it were possible. Highly attentive, happy to serve you, and great suggestions. Accommodated us when we called for a reservation at the last minute. My wife gave them big props for giving her a black napkin with her black pants when the normal ones are tan. Never knew that was a thing...light napkins leave light lint...guess I need to eat at nicer establishments. Don't worry about your attire-this is still one of the most relaxed cities in America. Was leaning towards four stars because of the appetizers, but the service simply puts Il Mulino over the top.

Loved it here. It's located inside the Swan Hotel, which is actually not Disney-owned. We had 2 very attentive waiters. The complimentary bread was great; my Insalata Caprese was delicious; and my Linguine with White Clam Sauce was amazing. While it is a little loud, the decor is clean, warm and inviting.

If you're reading this because you're near this restaurant and have to make a decision to go here or not... my summary in short: Go here if you want a nice italian atmosphere with nice people serving you and don't mind average tasting italian food. I wish I had gone to Picabu at the Dolphin over this place... save money and I get full from tastier food! The service was superb -- 5 stars all around. Never a moment where my glass was less than half full and waiters asking how we're doing. When you're seated, an appetizer plate is already brought to your table (eggplant, cheese, and salami?). It was all tasty - the bread was warm and delicious. Wish they would keep refilling it though! At the end of the meal, they offer some refreshment alcohol for your palate. I came here on a personal meat-less day - they had no real good vegetarian options. I went with the gnocchi with tomato sauce -- it was pretty bland with no real flavor so I had to put a lot of table pepper onto it. Also tried out their whole wheat Tre Formaggi pizza, which wasn't that bad. Personally I thought the food is overpriced for the flavor and quality. After a full day in Disney, you'll eat anything!! I had a hard time finishing my plate and wish I had more bread to fill me up. Perhaps I'm spoiled and like hand made and hand crafted italian food, including pasta, so something that I could boil up myself and not have to pay $25 a dish is my preference. On another note, you're on vacation... guess you should enjoy! Didn't get to explore other restaurants of the Swan/Dolphin but no need to waste $$ here if you want good quality food. + atmosphere nice + can wear anything (even after a long day at the park) + service was excellent - people are nice and always smiling - overpriced for the quality of food - not handmade pasta - not a lot of vegetarian options - didn't give you more bread when you're 5 small pieces were done (most italian places refill in the DC area if your food has not arrived)

The food was good for Florida but not exceptional the service was great and the atmosphere was Disney. Recommend if your staying at the Dolphin and don't want to drive and deal with kids and family.

This is our fourth time eating at Il Mulino. The restaurant is consistent - staff are friendly. our waiter last evening was attentive, knowledgeable and prompt. We brought our own bottle of red wine - they charge for corkage. Due to us being returning locals - the corkage was waived. All meals were very good - veal was awesome, the mussels appetizer was terrific -a spicy sauce indeed. My wife had pasta - cooked as it should be, al dente. We did not have dessert. The restaurant being located in the Swan Hotel at Disney is convenient and a great change from crowded and over priced and bad food at the parks. The bar area is nice - busy crowd, small music ensemble on weekends. i suggest making reservations since both Swan/Dolphin cater to many large business conventions and the 2 resorts are very busy with tourists/families. It is noisy, boisterous and fun atmosphere. Don't go if you want a nice and quiet or intimate dinner.

I feel bad giving this restaurant only two stars, but if you asked me how it was I would say "Meh," so I deemed it appropriate due to the direct quote. It was my first time to Il Mulino, and after passing it by many times, we took the opportunity to eat there because of its Magical Dining Month participation. If you are local to Orlando and you aren't doing Magical Dining...get on it. Amazing deals. Well, except maybe here. The restaurant was extremely loud, and it was only a Tuesday. I should have prefaced with the fact that the Swan is a hotel that caters mostly to conventions, and the attendees can get pretty liberal with their volume. The restaurant atmosphere is basic: it's that "modern Italian" decor that is pretty standard all over the place. It is one of those places where the servers introduce themselves and their "team," which is a trend I find distasteful. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate food runners and how difficult their job is, but I now have to deal with the fact that one of the members of my serving team has little to no personality, and frankly, was quite rude. Well, if I was tipping based on his service it would have been small. Thankfully, our main server was delightful and nice, and explained things on the menu very well (she also let us split our bill for alcohol and food). The magical dining menu was made up of selections from the regular menu; something I appreciate, as I don't want to waste time eating food I'll never be able to eat again. My dining party and I ordered everything, except a pasta marinara, from the menu due to our number and the number of selections on the special menu. We started with the Arancini, it was really spicy, in fact, the sauce was almost all I could taste, however, it was fried to perfection. I have had several soggy arancinis and blech, disgusting, this one however, was not. Caesar salad was pretty standard, nothing to shout about, and the other salad, was nice, and crisp, but again, nothing spectacular. Entrees, goodness me. Salmon: farmed, blah. As a person who grew up in Alaska, it's hard to please me with a farmed salmon. The fish itself was cooked well, so it had a redeeming quality. The chicken I ordered...not cooked well. In fact, it was raw inside. Our delightful server did take it back and bring me a new piece, but the chicken wasn't seasoned much, and the accoutrements were, shall we say, uneventful. Finally, the Torellini, which ordinarily comes on a "family style" menu with a minimum of 4 people, was available as a single entree through the special Magical Dining menu. It was actually unpalatable. I am a food snob (I'll admit it), but I will give everything a fair shake. This dish truly was a disappointment. The veal inside is practically pulverized into mush, with no real flavor, and the sauce just didn't hit it for me. I tried the dish when it first arrived, a little later, and then it ended up being my last bite (see, fair shake), but I think the recipe needs to be altered. I see the other glowing reviews of the restaurant, and I'm so glad they had an enjoyable dining experience, but ours was kinda, meh, like I said in the beginning. The desserts were generous, and my friend RAVED about the tiramisu. It actually had the wonderful texture of SOAKED lady fingers, which makes all the difference in the world. I would be likely to return for desserts and cocktails. I cannot comment on the cost of this dinner, as it was a promotional price, but I am glad I didn't pay much more for it. It could have been an off night, or the many parties of conventioneers were throwing off food quality, but Il Mulino didn't strike a chord with me. Thank heavens for our head server, because she really was the saving grace in the restaurant that night. Maybe during the summer when there aren't as many conventions, this restaurant can really shine, but it certainly felt like a quantity-over-quality restaurant when we went. But like I said, I'm not writing it off just yet, because their bar... perfetto.

Meh. Not impressed. Being a New Yorker, if you are going to put "New York" in the name of your establishment, BRING IT. We came when I was at a conference on site, so it definately has the convenience factor. I really wanted to go to the sushi restaurant, but we couldn't get a reservation before 10pm, so we came here. The restaurant itself is very pretty, the lounge and bar comfy. The service staff was friendly but slow, the food was meh. Very pricey, even by Disney standards. Was hoping for more.

Service is excellent, food is ok. Went to celebrate a birthday. We had reservations for 6 on Saturday night, we got right in. The great service continued from beginning to end. It was rather loud for the first hour but as the place died down the noise became tolerable. Overall good experience but the food is overpriced for what it is. This really is a nice place to enjoy an Italian meal. Take one star for the prices.

I ate at this restaurant for about the 5th time last night. I went there as a part of a work team meeting. It was somewhat disappointing. I make sure to have salad caprese whereever I go in the world. What I was served last night was without a doubt the worst I have ever been served. The cheese was small and tasted extremely old. It was served with no olive oil or vinegar on it which I guess we were suppose to add from the table. The bread that was served was delicious. My main entree which was the mushroom pasta was fine. My colleague was served I think veal and it looked like an appetizer portion. She left it on her plate so not even sure it was any good. The dessert was fine. Service was the only highlight. Absolutel outstanding. Max was remarkable!! And the two Christians did a great job as well.

After an exhausting day wrangling 6 children and 4 adults in the Magic Kingdom, Il Mulino was a welcome escape. The wine list was excellent (albeit the cocktails seemed a tad "watered-down"), and the spicy red sauce served with the calamari fritti was addictive. The eggplant "spread"(?) served with the traditional "appetizer breads in a basket" was unique and flavorful. Great extra virgin olive oil on the table. The children ordered a simple pepperoni pizza but I'd venture to say the pizza was one of the best things on the menu! The carbonara was pretty good but our friends ordered the grouper which looked much more appetizing. Service was "on point". This place was classy, sexy, and we'd eat here again for sure!

Wayyyyy to expensive for the quality which was on a a scale of 1-10 about a 6.5. Kids spaghetti $12!! Would only go again if I wasn't paying and I wouldn't recommend someone take me there.... Service was great and I'd give that a 10 of 10.

Wow, the crappy reviews totally throw me off because we had a GREAT experience there. Since were were staying at the Dolphin for a work conference, we were finally able to get to Il Mulino to try it out. Service was really great. Friendly but not overbearing and there was always someone there when we needed them. Recommended a great bottle of pinor noir that was in our price range. A complimentary bread, cheese, eggplant caponata, and meat platter was brought to our table and we enjoyed it. I started with the arancini and really liked them as well. Perfectly crispy on the outside and a nice blend of flavors inside. Definitely reminded me of some of the arancini I had in Sicily. There was enough to share but I was pretty greedy! Continued my meal with the veal saltimbocca and the veal was cooked perfectly. It was a nice cut of meat, milk fed, and very tender it practically fell apart with my fork. We skipped on dessert since we were all so full but we all enjoyed the complimentary limoncello that is always offered to those of age. Delicious! Definitely will be back and willing to make the trek out there even if we're not staying at the Swan/Dolphin.

I wish I could give this place a good recommendation but I can't. This time we stayed at the Swan and decided to have a drink and pizza on the way to nightime fun at epcot, since pizza was the only thing we liked there last time.THis visit the place was dead with a really lovely piano guitar duo playing. Started with a really nice muddle tequila lemon drink. DOnt' remember the name of it but it was good.Had the carpaccio, hoping they really couldn't do anything bad to it. It wasn't good, I mean not terrible, but not good. Served over sauteed greens with no hint of olive oil or seasoning whatsoever. Terribly bland, terribly boring dish. So we moved on to sausage and mushroom pizza for dinner. It was delicious! Lots of thick sliced sausage and wonderfully different mushrooms. Ultra thin crust, done perfectly.THe pizza is the only redeeming food here. We saw several diners in the dining room area sending food back and dishes that went by looked like they had been sitting way too long. I would come back for pizza and a drink, but would never venture anything beyond that.

The spaghetti carbonara was great. We also enjoyed the dip for the bread. It was a concoction of eggplant & olive oil (I think) regardless, is was yummy. The pizza was so-so

Located in the Swan unit of the Dolphin & Swan complex this is a fashionable, nice looking restaurant that, sadly enough, doesn't measure-up to class A Italian food. Atmosphere 90 Modern, clean, in a hotel, location Service 90 Disney inspired help - trained and crisp Food 75 A disappointment for $50 pp. Value 75 Considering all, a positive experience Perhaps it was the choice of meals, but a party of five's consensus was very average Italian cuisine. If you are staying at the properties it passes, but to drive to the complex, you can eat better (not necessarily Italian) in other places.

Amazing Italian restaurant at the Swan Resort. The feel and look is urban Italian modern, but comfortable and cozy. The volume can get a little out of contro ldepending on the amount of receptions and large dinners taking place in the space - which is shaped like a T. The menu is very Italian. I enjoyed a variety of delicious appetizers on both visits. One visit I had the salmon carpaccio for my entree. It had fried capers and it was amazing. The second visit I had the beef carpaccio and it was amazing as well. They give a little eggplant and pepper amouse bouche for the table on a little plate with a couple of slices of their salame. Very, very nice. I had a taste of everyone's pasta and I couldn't believe how delicious it all tasted. It's like being in Italy. I had a glass of the Malbec, it was really good. I always try to have a taste of Malbec wherever I go, to try different labels. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a dinner dining destination for adults/new couples/sophisticated Italian foodies who are staying at the Disney resorts. Especially good restaurant for those who need some adult dinner time. There's also a really great bar at the entrance of the restaurant that's sometimes used for receptions, and which has a great selection. It can get a little crowded. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Great food...the bad reviews made me skeptical at first, but we were staying on property for work, it was raining, and it was either this or the gross looking buffet option across the hall. Starters- spicy tomato foccasia was tasty. Eggplant Caponata and salami type meat was great with the fresh Italian bread. We also had a great bottle of petite syrah as well! I shared a couple of entrees with another person...the portions are gigantic, so we probably could have ordered a half order of pasta and had plenty of food. We tried the wild mushroom risotto, which was excellent, and spaghetti carbonara, which was ok but could have used a stronger bacon flavor. We complimented the dishes with a side of fresh peas with pancetta. Wonderful ambiance- warm woods, cool lighting, and decor inspired by Tuscan wine, food and ingredients (check out the big display table near the entrance). Great service- we were well taken care of.

Strong start, disappointing middle, strong finish. 1) Eggplant caponata and focaccia was wonderful, as was the Insaccati Misti for Two. 2) I ordered saltimbocca; flavor and presentation was good but veal was overcooked. Husband ordered Pollo Fra Diavolo. Flavor was good but presentation was abysmal - expected a lovely chicken breast garnished with sausage and a spicy tomato sauce. The reality was an unappealing mishmash of chopped chicken and sausage with zucchini, onions, and broccoli. (If I had served this at home, I would have apologetically told my family, "I sure hope this tastes better than it looks."). 3) Desserts (pistachio gelato and Tartufo) were very good.

1.5 stars. In a nutshell: Service at the bar was SLOW, we were seated 35 minutes late (despite getting there very early), but at least the food was fine. ---- begin rant. We were in Orlando for a conference, which happened to be during Hurricane Debby...A group of 9 of us decided that we wanted to eat close by. I called Il Mulino before we arrived, and they assured me they could seat the 9 of us at 9pm. We arrived a little past 8, and notified the hostess that we had arrived and that we would be having some drinks at the bar. It took the servers forEVER to finally give us drink menus...and another eternity before they came by to take our orders. A full 15 minutes after we'd placed our drink orders and asked for waters all around, one of the waitresses comes by to tell one of my colleagues that they were "out of plum," and that she would have to choose another drink. When she asked if they could just make it without plum, the waitress gave us a very uncermonious "no"...even though the plum wasn't even a major part of the drink. Really?! Meanwhile, another friend of ours had arrived...but no one had bothered to give her a menu. We were in the bar area for OVER an HOUR before all of our drinks ARRIVED. But wait, you say, you were there less than an hour before your reservation?! What were you still doing at the bar? Well, turns out, after checking with the hostess several times (a few minutes before 9, just to remind them that we were here, once at 9, once at 9:10, once at 9:20, and finally one more time around 9:35), they could not actually seat us. Hello, we had a reservation at NINE O' CLOCK. At this point, I figured it must be so busy that they couldn't seat us until 35 minutes after our reservation time. Of course, when we walk in, there are several tables open. Just in our area alone, there were three tables that could easily seat 25 to 30 people. Other areas of the restaurant also had empty tables...so um...wth? Despite the terrible service in the bar area + hostess, the waiters in the restaurant portion were actually pretty nice, and fairly attentive. I got a spaghetti dish that was tasty...and a tiramisu, which was tasty, and GINORMOUS. Couldn't physically finish it.

Had an outstanding experience at Il Mulino, Dolphin resort in Orlando. First, the entire restaurant was booked when I called for a reservation. After letting Gracie (manager) know I was in town for a short time and this is the one place I wanted to take my group, she worked out an early reservation for us. During dinner I had 2 extra people show up unexpectedly and the team at Il Mulino was happy to accommodate. The level of service, flexibility and team attitude was truly superb. A huge thank you to Gracie, Maria, Karla and Kadisha. They all have amazing attitudes, all smiles and extremely helpful throughout our time at the restaurant. They truly care about the experience of their patrons. Food was terrific. Rigatoni with mushrooms and truffle was incredible. Thank you Il Mulino for an outstanding experience overall.

We decided that we would go to Il Mulino for dinner to meet with a couple of friends we hadn't seen in twenty years. We had heard the food was delicious so we thought we would give it a try. We had a gift certificate for $150.00 for any restaurant in the Swan hotel so we figured the cost of the dinner would be quite reasonable, which it was. The food was very good. I had the Gnocchi with bolognese which was a very nice soft and pillowy, house made gnocchi, and my wife had the stuffed manocotti. She said hers was absolutely delicious. There's always a little bad with the good and here we go...... Our server, Jose, was very friendly until we explained to him that we had a gift certificate. After that, for whatever reason, he completely shut down. As a chef, I know the front of the house and the back of the house operations and basic rules that apply when working those positions. Simple things like coming back to the table to see if the appetizers were prepared properly within a few minutes, clearing the table in a timely manner, refilling the water glasses, bringing the food to the table for everyone at one time instead of bringing out two dishes then slowly meandering to the kitchen to retrieve the other two. Simple things like resetting the table for the next course, checking back with your diner after you give them their entree to make sure the meal was satisfactory to their needs, a simple thank you or just a general acknowledgment when your diner says "your recommendations were spot on and the meal was delicious.". A little sincerity and politeness go a very long way when you are a server and the fact that he was going to get a minimum 18% tip either way because we were using a gift certificate clearly was the deciding factor as to whether this guy gave a crap or not when taking care of our table. His fellow team member David was phenomenal and should have received the entire amount, but, unfortunately he explained to us that he and Jose had to split the tip 50-50. The only reason I gave it three stars was because the food and David. Both were fantastic and I would go back to the restaurant again but only if Jose was not my server. Unfortunately the rudeness and the lack of caring took two stars away from this dining experience. When you work front of the house and a customer is spending $250.00 at your restaurant in a sitting, you leave your sh!t at the door, Jose and put on your server face. Your job is to be the face for the restaurant and you failed miserably.

I attended a social event here during a conference, so we had a great deal of big plates to try. The portions were decent sized; I got the gnocchi bolognese and I couldn't finish it. Mind you, I also had bread, tomatoes and mozzarella, and salad. I'm a huge desert fan, but I didn't really love the desert. The cheesecake was amaretto and some other flavor that escapes me at the moment, and it just tasted odd. The chocolate cake was a bit hard and not too flavorful. Ambience is nice, and the service was great. I'd recommend this place in this area since everything else is mediocre :) ALSO--BE SURE TO TALK TO YOUR WAITER ABOUT VALIDATED PARKING. The Swan and Dolphin charge $15/day and when you go to park they fail to tell you that Il Mulino validates parking. I only found this out as someone (clearly smarter than me) decided to ask via intercom (since there isn't anyone on duty in the parking lot).

Definitely one of the top restaurants at Disney now. Better than the Italian at Epcot. Very good wine list albeit a little pricey. Great service.

Everything I ate here was delicious, even the calamari and I thought I hated calamari!! They brought an eggplant brushetta welcome plate with Italian bread and spicy chibatta -"courtesy of the chef" they said. We devoured the meatball and calamari appetizers. My sister from New York said it can take months to get a reservation at the NY location. I called to make a reservation and they were able to seat us immediately. This was the best dinner in our Disney Trip.

While in Florida on business, my coworker and I were so tired of Disney-themed everything, and tried to channel New York by making a visit to Il Mulino Trattoria. Service, as is the way in the South, was impeccably friendly and accommodating. The amuse bouche they brought out right away, which they adjusted to our vegetarian/Kosher needs, was exceptionally good. Breads were outstanding. We ordered a pasta and a fish dish, and both were just "okay". Decent wine selection.

Pretty good italian food. Apparently it's a small chain with 13 locations. I had chicken "Pollo Fla Diavolo" that was delicious. Insalata Trattoria was ok, but rather overpriced. I would definitely skip it in the future. It looked like a side salad that should come with your entree, rather than a $13 dollar item on the menu. Dinner entree and past dishes , however, are all good sized and can be easily split between the two people. I highly recommend this place if you are staying at the Dolphin & Swan. Plus, they have a good bar/lounge area with live music.

This is a great restaurant. I had the veal chop - I can't remember the name from the menu. Cooked the way I like it. It was garnished with sage and pancetta. The end result, tender and juicy with a great flavor. The restaurant featured a caponata and cured sausage appetizer. I am going to have to rethink my aversion to egg plant - I don't like its texture. With the caponata, may have found a way to eat egg plant.

Service = great Atmosphere = Nice, but still Disney Food = 2 salads, 1 appetizer, 4 drinks = $120. I will say their bread was REALLY good, enough that it deserves mention. If you don't care about the price, you can eat just as good in one of the other places on hotel property.

I ate here with my mother and sister when we went on a girls trip. We were staying in the Swan so this restaurant was in a perfect and convenient location for us. The ambiance was good and the restaurant was not too crowded. Service was good too. Food wise, it was just ok. It wasn't bad but for the price I would have expected more. I had the veal chop and was more than a little underwhelmed. The wine list was great and the tiramisu was pretty tasty. I give it three stars because it with all their competition of great food in the area, the really need to step the quality of the dishes up. I likely won't return.

Great find for our last night at Disney! Rigatoni con funghi is a most order! After a few disappointing dinners while staying at Disney world, we decided to escape the restaurant tourist traps of downtown disney/other parks and check out this restaurant which was located inside a hotel (fear not the parking is validated). Very good looking contemporary style restaurant with a modest price range for most meals. Delicious appetizers including something similar to bruschetta which was complimentary! The rigatoni con funghi was my main course and was one of the tastiest meals I've ever had. We both really enjoyed our meals, wine, and attentive servers! Also they brought us complimentary lemon liqueur after dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed this place and recommend it to those looking to get away from the crowded restaurant traps of Disney.

Grazie Il Mulino for offering authentic Italian food and for making it delicious. For anyone able to dine here (it's located within the Dolphin hotel on Disney property), this is a treat worth taking. We were seated at the table and were immediately served a complimentary tasting from the chef - sausage and eggplant with a hefty smothering of Parmesan cheese. Next came fresh Italian bread and foccacia slices (yum). For appetizers, I opted for their tossed salad which was artfully put together and included toasted pine nuts. My husband went for the arrancini or rice balls filled with meat. For dinner I ordered the special, linguini with a spicy tomato sauce and prawns. It was light, full of flavor, and definitely something you'd find in a Trattoria in Tuscany. My husband went with the Carbonara and was pleased down to the very last bite. We were full so we decided to forgo dessert but were treated to a slice of chocolate cake and fresh berries because the waiter heard it was our anniversary. And for all diners, you're able to sample their housemade Limoncello which will clean your palate and knock your socks off (it's made with grain alcohol). The service was impeccable and the prices just what you'd expect - fairly high but definitely worth it.

This was a horrible "Italian" dining experience. I understood going in that the prices were going to be much higher than they should be, but I would honestly rather dine at Olive Garden (which is practically a sin in my large Italian family). Our server was nice, but she was not a good server at all. If we were mid conversation, instead of coming back, she would sit there and stare at us until we finished our thought. It wasn't like we were having a long conversation- but she seemed to be put off that we were actually trying to enjoy our night out. We ordered a bottle of wine, house salads, and the worst pasta I've ever had in my entire life. The house salad was missing something- well, a lot of things. Their house dressing tasted like oil, vinegar and lemon...lots and lots of lemon, but it just didn't work. At $11 a pop, it should have been a better salad. I ordered the gnocci (which our server couldn't pronounce) with "bolognese." The sauce, which is traditionally a meat-based sauce, had no meat whatsoever in it. It tasted like store bought marinara you buy from the grocery store (I wouldn't be shocked if that's exactly what it was). The pasta itself was pretty bad too. My dinner partners had chicken parm- which had nothing else...it was just a plate full of breaded chicken doused in bad sauce with two pieces of mozz. cheese melted over it, and the roasted chicken, which was good but had a very small portion. I wouldn't ever return to the restaurant portion of this place. We did stop at the bar after dinner for a drink, and while the cocktails were fine, three cocktails came out to almost $40. Ouch.

I'm a wedding planner who is often at the Swan, and I always look forward to my dinners at Il Mulino when the job is done. This place has great food and great music. If you are looking for overly tomato-sauced "Italian", this is not your place. If you are looking for artisan meats, cheeses, breads and rustic Italian dishes with modern flair, go to Il Mulino.

3.4 stars. This being another restaurant in the Swan-Dolphin abyss, I was pleasantly surprised after the profit-seeking fiasco over at Bluezoo, and the lousy reviews on here. They had great eggplant caponata and bread to start out. The insaccata mista was solid, almost as good as the epic one at Epcot although a touch meat-heavy. The Arancini were sadly still cold in the middle, although the sauce they were in was spicy and good. The Bucatini Amatriciana didn't have any red pepper in it, as listed on the menu, so we asked them to put some in, but we couldn't taste it... It should have had red pepper in it anyway. The waiter said the mushroom pasta was the best but we were underwhelmed. The carbonara was decent but a little dry, so the bland Amatriciana was probably the winner in terms of pastas. The veal saltimbocca was great, possibly the highlight of the night. The berries with zabaglione was great, and the tartufo was too. Good coffee and prosecco. The lambrusco was sweeter than usual but passable. They should stick with one waiter to a table as to avoid miscommunication. The portions are American so don't order a bunch of courses unless you are enormous or comfortable wasting a lot of food or taking it home.

Great food and atmosphere. Love the little outside garden area between the piano and bar. Allows the kids to play and be kids, while Staci and I enjoy quality food. The soft couches, fountain, and birds add to the relaxation after a long day at the parks. Wait staff also provides service to this area. Highly recommend to families with high energy kids like the Chamberlains!

The atmosphere was good. The food was decent. Only reason we went was due to a conference at the Disney Dolphin. Other than that, probably won't ever try this restaurant. The complaint that I had is that I paid $32 for seafood risotto and I expected big seafood like jumbo shrimp, etc. The shrimp were the small shrimps and there were not a lot of seafood in the dish. So felt they overcharge me on the dish.

Great place to socialize with friends. The margherita pizza was good, but the Cabernetwas excellent. The ladies waiting on us were very nice complements for the gathering. It's the only restaurant that delivers on service.

Came here for a business dinner because one of the guys was excited to see an Orlando branch of one of his favorite places back in NY. I'm all for restaurants trying to capitalize on their name and make a buck for themselves, and plenty of chefs and their business partners have opened outposts successfully. Turns out this place is a franchise and loosely overseen by the NY guys. That's the backdrop. Our service was great. The waiter knew the wine list and helped the guys drinking wine select a bottle they were happy with. There were no specials and he knew the menu well. For apps we got some perfectly fried calamari, some so-so meatballs, and a caprese salad that was a little lame (bad tomatoes, very skimpy but good mozz). My entree was a red snapper that was a nice portion and done well but not something wow like. One of the guys had to send his pasta back because it was cold. The manager replaced the whole dish for him and was all apologies that were sincere. 3-stars because it was A-OK, nothing more. 4 guys, apps, dinner and a bottle of wine for just over $200. Very reasonable especially in this area, but don't think I'd be back.

Why do they use the name Il Mulino New York? This restaurant is not even remotely close to Il Mulion in New York City. The food was simply terrible. I had snapper, which was overcooked, soggy and tasteless. My wife had manicotti, which she couldn't eat. I don't like to leave bad reviews unless truly justified, but this place really needs to get a real chef. The food is a joke. The service is fine, but who cares if the food is disgusting?

Parched after dinner. In Disney World for a conference and with the lack there of restaurant choices, night #2 landed us at Il Mulino. Reservations were booked for the restaurant, but walk-ins were welcomed in the lounge area. A salad. Just mediocre. Some pasta - too salty. The swordfish. Again, salty. My boss said and I quote - "Usually I'm not hard to please"... gives you an idea of how unimpressive this restaurant is... 2 stars for the food and 1 star for convenience.

Frankly, after reading a recent unfavorable review, my wife and I were apprehensive about trying this restaurant for the first time. We were a party of five celebrating our teen's birthday and unique orders given we had two small children and one adult with unique dietary restrictions. Staff (Jeff/Jose) we're extremely patient and accommodating and made the entire experience rewarding from a customer service standpoint. In addition to customer service, when the food hit the table, in a timely fashion, it was prepared as requested and absolutely delicious. There were no complaints - and there were five of us with different palates. We would definitely go back and would highly recommend the experience to others. As far as cost, you get what you pay for. It was not cheap but definitely not overly expensive. We were very satisfied customers and will return again.

I ate my face off here, and loved every minute of it. We had a pre-arranged menu for a large party, so my dining experience in terms of food and service might be slightly different than the usual patron's. But I had a fabulous meal. Started with the antipasto plate of prosciutto, parmeasan, tomato and mozz, cherry peppers, red peppers, and other assorted cured meats. Divine. Salad course was fairly typical but still good. I had the penne with marinara and parm next, which I only ate a few bites of in order to save room for the main course. And boy was I glad I did - the red snapper with broccoli rabe in some delicious sauce was excellent. Tender and light inside, a little crisp on the outside. Luckily, as everyone knows, you have a separate dessert stomach that let's you eat sweets no matter how full you are after the meal. After the first four courses, they brought out these dessert "troughs". There's really no other way to describe them. Huge long plates of tiramisu, fudge cake, fresh berries, whipped creams, and what tasted like a cross between cheesecake and angel food cake. And of course coffee and a shot of limoncello to top it off. I waddled out of there after 3.5 hours and over to my validated parking spot completely stuffed and content. Not being able to eat for the next 18 hours was totally worth it. If you're looking for a fine (probably pricey) Italian meal, I'd suggest Il Mulino!

It's ok. Nice atmosphere and I like the round table for a group of 5. You don't get that in NY. Wine selection was good, bread was tasty and I liked the eggplant antipasta they served. Tiramasu tasted homemade. Other then that, the food was fairly average, and nothing really stood out. Reservation highly recommended

I'm surprised this did not rate higher overall. We were a business party of 8 and the ambiance, service and food were more than satisfying to us. Loved the eggplant and bread pre-meal freebies. We had excellent service too. I had the mussels in white wine and garlic, which was excellent, with thin slices of fresh garlic strewn about the flavorful dish. Great "sauce" for dipping the fresh bread into afterwards. I went with 1/2 potion of the risotto con fungi - and I never ever get pasta in restaurants, so easy to make at home. But - --- the mushrooms were delicious, pasta cooked right, sauce was light. Everyone at the table had something different and everyone was completely satisfied. My meal came to $26 and for a higher end restaurant at WDW I thought that was completely appropriate - I didn't partake in the numerous bottles of wine consumed at the table, but wine service was lovely as were limoncellos served complimentary at the end of the meal. (I passed mine on after one sip - whoa!) Shared a few desserts which were delish too - the mocha (?) gelato and another creamy rich and fattening item! We had a blast, perfect for a business meal with fun colleagues. I'll return on my expense account any time!

Not being familiar with their background ( NYC based), we browsed at their menu and decided to give it a try. After walking through a relatively large lounge/bar area in the back of the Disney Swan Hotel, we reached the greeting area and dining room. It was sparcely crowded, but it was Sunday night. We were seated in the main dining room and the first to arrive at 6 pm. After explaining the specials and taking our drink orders, we were served a bread basket which included some fresh foccacia and small bread baguette slices along with a small plate of the chef's amuse bouche of marinated eggplant in olive oil; he eggplant went well on the baguette slices. My partner and I strategized our meal and originally wanted to order a margherita pizza besides our actual orders; fortunately, our waiter warned us that this would be waaaaay too much food. It went like this: Her Me Appetizer (shared) - Fried Calamari - kind of hard to do bad, but this was very good as they were still hot.. not enough to burn your tongue.. and served with a spicy marinara sauce. I hate soggy calamari so this was definitely a nice surprise. Entree Seared Scallop Risotto - three large Linguini with Clams, red sauce - nicely browned scallops on a bed of large plate of al dente linguini (I creamy risotto (the scallop was de- like it a little undercooked which cent) and, since there was no risotto made this perfect) with two large left, I think she enjoyed it. clams with shell and a good ser- ving of similar sized clam meat sans shells. Dessert Hazelnut gelato - a large scoop of Flourless chocolate cake, hold the housemade ice cream that went whipped cream and zabaglione - well with my cake. imagine eating a melt-in-your- mouth chocolate bar. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal and certainly more affordable that their hotel competition, Blue Zoo. The portions were certainly generous as we left nearly half of the calamari fritti. I would come back and try the other dishes especially since I love my noodles.

My wife and I have eaten her 2x in the last 2 years. It's kind of a treat because it sits on Disney property but isn't a Disney restaurant. That was our big draw initially because of the homogenized feel of most of WDW food options. Let me focus on our most recent trip (Dec 2010). We'd made a reservation and were running about 10 minutes late so I called and was told not to worry. Upon arrival we check in and the hostess sends us to the bar while our table is prepared. No big deal, we were a few minutes late so no problem - too bad this ends up being the highlight to our visit. The bartender was a fellow Midwesterner and fantastic. She was attentive and helped guide us into two very good wines. She had my wife sample 3 before making a selection...which in the middle of, our table became ready. I think we were at the bar for about 2 minutes. We sit down and it takes our server a good 5 minutes to saunter over at which point he notices we have wine, makes some rude comment under his breath and walks away. I could go on but that lasted the entire meal. We kicked it off with Arancini. Pretty good, standard but tasty. Got a slab of Parmigiano which was good but literally a slab, it was massive. SECRET TIP: you can order half-orders of the pasta, which we highly recommend. I had the Gnocchi Bolognese which was good. Not very tender but manageable and the sauce was decent. My wife had the Penne Rigate which was fine. A little dollop of ricotta and nothing memorable beyond that. We're headed back in February 2011 and won't be headed here, unless it's for a drink.

I'm a fan of the original in NY and while an Orlando off-shoot clearly wasn't going to capture the character of the original, I thought it was a really good dining experience. Amen to another reviewer commenting on people who complain about the price...tough to really do that when on vacation in disney. The server was an Irish gentleman (may be weird in an authentic Italian spot anywhere else but Disney) and he was EXCELLENT. We went through two bottles of the Banfi Wine- fairly priced and good quality. The list is very good with all the classics as well as a few regional italian gems. As for the food, the eggplant that they start you with as a chef's courtesy is really good- I don't love eggplant, but it had terrific flavor. Next went with the antipasto plate of cured meats and parmesan cheese- very good, quality meats. For entree's, we had the gnocchi, the red snapper special which my friend raved about and the Fettucine carbonara which was great- a little heavy, but very good. We tried the Tiramasu (the dessert list was a tad limited relative to the rest of the menu) and it was ok. Overall, the ambiance was just ok, but the food and service were good. I wouldn't recommend it for kids, but if you are in Disney looking for an adult meal, I would definitely give it a try and I will certainly be going back.

Last Monday & Tuesday evenings we had two superb meals here. I seldom order Chicken Parmesan unless it comes with eggplant, fortunately my wife ordered it & WOW!! It was probably the best I've ever had, they don't make it the traditional way but, with a coating of what I believe is seasoned flour. Their Calamari is delicious, Meatballs were excellent, Salads were good, ALL their Sauces were very good & the Manicotti & Pollo Aromatico were good too. There were no low points, we couldn't be happier with both of our experience's at Il Mulino.

You won't find any Disney characters at Il Mulino at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Orlando. This restaurant isn't decked with Mickey Mouse lined napkins, instead they actually bring out black solid cloth napkins if you're wearing black pants....swanky! A group of co-workers and I came here for dinner while at a conference. They have semi-private rooms with walls that slide, trapping out most of the sound. Great atmosphere for small parties, dimly lit and tastefully designed. Il Mulino offers an extensive selection of wine offerings. My wine of choice was Chardonnay (crisp, light and tasty). The table ordered a selection of appetizers including calamari, meatballs and rice balls. I highly recommend the rice balls. Crispy on the outside with moist rice on the inside covered with a rich chunky tomato sauce. The calamari was great too and there is plenty to pass around. I also ordered a salad which consisted of a mixed greens and pine nuts with a citrus balsamic vinaigrette glaze. The dressing was somewhat bland and I would have preferred it to contain more vinaigrette and less balsamic, but it was tasty and healthy nonetheless. For my main course I ordered a meat tortellini with creamy sauce and peas (the 1/2 order). Man was it good! Perfectly cooked and creamed just right. I highly recommend the tortellini for those that crave rich creamy dishes. Great with a glass of chilled chardonnay. To top it off I had the trio of sorbet. A great dessert to clean your palate with mango, pineapple and raspberry sorbet scoops. HMM HMM Good Italiano Good!

Know going in: Il Mulino is under the House of Mouse, so expect Disney prices and the overall general Disney feel. That said, this place was solid for their Italian. I began with the carpaccio di carne (thinly-sliced Tuscan-style beef served with arugula, extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice and our original carpaccio sauce). I love good carpaccio and while the arugula added a nice tang, the dish overall was bland. I missed the nice element that a little shaved cheese adds to the beef, as well. My main course was veal saltimbocca. This was the shining star of the evening. The saltimbocca was perfectly crisped and the flavors melded stunningly. Dessert was berries with zabaglione, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, this is a more elegant place to come if you want something on Disney property. However, if you have a car or are willing to cab it somewhere, there are other lovely Italian spots free of the Mouse-trap.

Kinda made my head want to explode because, get this, the disney il mulino is cheaper than the NY one. Crazy town! Anyway, had a nice evening at the bar here. The beef carpaccio & margarita pizza were both really tasty, reasonable & just the right amount of food for that 10pm dining hour when you don't want dinner but do want dinner. Atmosphere was also a nice reprieve from the kiddies. All adults, mostly various conference-goers. A few stragglers coming over from the karaoke bar also in the dolphin. Our bartender was a real d-bag & the only slightly unpleasant part of the night. He made a few condescending remarks, first about my gimlet order that I traded out when they didn't have rose's & also very patronizingly making sure I knew carpcaccio was raw beef. Thanks for the tip, bud! No matter, we had a nice time & eventually a nice & friendly bartender replaced him.

What a way to start my vacation in Orlando, Florida! My father and I were looking for restaurants in the Orlando area and we came upon II Mulino (thats il, but with a capital i so it looks like its just 2 L's (not very smart planning by whoever owns this place)), a very upscale-like atmospheric restaurant. I have to say, the service at this restaurant was very impressive. When they pour water in your glass, they have a towel shielding you from getting splashed with water. They also have a hand towel pyramid in the bathroom which was awesome. I didn't take one though because I didn't want to ruin the pyramid. Somebody had to take part of their day to build that thing. Anyway, the restaurant looks fantastic. Once again, a very simple yet elegantly designed restaurant. Even though this is a very fancy restaurant, there wasn't really a problem when I came in wearing a T-shirt and shorts. I guess they're more lenient in Florida than in NYC. The waiter, before he/she even asks you what you want to drink, brings out a plate of prosciutto and what is supposedly eggplant, although the eggplant looks like cat vomit to me. The prosciutto tasted phenomenal along with the fresh bread given out. For dinner I got the Linguini with Clams, and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. They added a nice touch of olive oil without adding on so much where it gets to be splattering everywhere. The clams were cooked to perfection and were seasoned nicely with a hint of salt and pepper along with a nice touch of cilantro, again where there isn't too much of it, but the right amount. It was phenomenal. They claim this one other dish is their signature dish, but if you are going to this restaurant, you have to get the Linguini with Clams. When they ask you if you want cheese, again, you have to say yes. To me, it's just mandatory. You'd be missing out if you didn't put the cheese on your dish. It makes the dish taste so much more amazing than it already is. Just like Tim Tebow (who is annoying), I'm so excited to go back to this restaurant again! (If you don't get the Tebow reference, watch this video: youtube.com/watch?v=uNcM… (If you don't know who Tebow is, buy a televison already)) Overall, highly recommended restaurant, and it truly earns its high ranking on Zagat's best Italian restaurants. I guess they finally got something right. P.S. The OTHER best part about this restaurant is that there are no annoying, screaming, crying, yelling children around to ruin your dinner! It's fantastic! In addition to that, it isn't very noisy inside the restaurant, making it pretty easy to have an inside-voice conversation without a problem.

Horrible. I ordered the rib eye medium, it showed up rare. I later realized the cook was afraid to cook that meat anymore for fear of it turning into leather. The meat was not fresh, there were no juices on the plate and the sauce it came with barely made it edible. I should have sent it back, but I was too hungry, traveling in from LA on a morning flight with only the oatmeal from Starbucks for breakfast and plane snacks for lunch. The bread is good. My wife had the Mushroom risotto, it was bad also. If this place is not afraid to serve sub-standard meals, it should be shut down. Unfortunately, they rely on the constant flow of visitors, so they can easily lure them into the restaurant with an exciting decor and feed them crap. I regret not going to Shula's Steakhouse at the Dolphin.

Very nice meal, great service, all in all a pleasant evening! We had a party of 8, and the service was seamless. The nightly specials were delicious, a fresh halibut served over cauliflower puree and gnocchi, and a fresh pappardelle with braised beef. The price...ouch...but everything is expensive at Disney. The bar is also very cool, a great place to enjoy a happy hour drink, or to hang after dinner for cocktails.

I read a few of the reviews and I was a little hesitant to eat here because they were pretty inconsistent. My mom and I ate here and loved every bite. For starters, the eggplant dish and the salami you get when you sit down is delicious. We ordered the calamari, which were delicious; squeezing the lemon on it made it even better. The bread and focaccia that came to the table were great as well. I ordered the portobello appetizer with balsamic reduction and the arancini appetizer as my meal. My mom ordered the red snapper dish. We were both happy with our choices! The only drawback was that my arancini were a little gummy but they were served on a delicious red sauce that made up for it. Plus, our servers, Monique & Rosa were awesome! They were informative, personable & attentive. The limoncello served after the meal was cold & refreshing. This meal was all around delicious and fresh.

Not the best, but for the area, it'll do. I had the risotto con funghi and it was tasty, creamy, and generous in portion. The meatball appetizer was ok, calamari better, and the gnocchi even better. We had a party of over 10 folks and the service was super. That was definitely the restaurant's high point.

Good for Orlando Italian. I place this at a tie with Portobello's for Italian. Family style rice balls were great. Their sauce is a bit spicy for most but I actually loved it. I dipped the table bread into it throughout my meal. Gnocchi & pizza were good. I'd recommend those. It satisfied our Italian craving while in Orlando. Coming from Northern NJ/NYC three stars is all it gets.

This was probably the best meal of our recent 12 day trip to Orlando. Our last night we had dinner with my Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and her husband at their hotel - it was the Adult dinner night and everything was wonderful! We were seated pretty promptly - then our drink orders were taken, bread and an appetizer teaser were brought to the table. The bread was very yummy- and the appetizer was an eggplant dish that everyone raved about- in fact my Aunt wanted to have it for a meal, but that wasn't a choice. We placed our orders and our food was served relatively quickly- we had a family style caesar salad- very traditional and good. I had the penne regata which was WONDERFUL! My husband had a snapper which he cleaned his plate...said it was fabulous. Two others had ordered other pasta dishes..another a seafood pasta and another snapper. We were all wanting to finish our plates because it tasted so good, but the helpings were pretty large- but so good you just couldn't stop eating. Some of us did share desserts- the three ordered were the Italian Cheesecake (not a fan- not sweet enough for me, but it was good- just could have been better), Flourless Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu- all of which got great reviews! You also get two free hours of babysitting at Camp Dolphin if you bring back your dinner receipt with at least two entrees on the bill. That worked out well so that my cousin had an affordable place to drop her three boys while we had a nice adult night out. The decor in the restaurant is very chic- elegant, modern yet very inviting. I would highly recommend this place and would certainly return to dine if I were in town again!

Just back from a dIsney vacation. We had dinner at Il Mulino and it was fabulous! The filet was amazing and i cannot remember ever having such delicious pasta. The wine list is great and the staff could not have been better. We will definitely dine here again.

Typical great atmosphere in a quality disney hotel. Started with the prosciutto and melon, which was very good. The platter of Italian delights was also good. Most people had the tortellini, which they said was superb. I had the veal. I love veal, and this was one of the best dishes I've had. The veal melted in your mouth. I can't say that this is as good as New York or Chicago Italian, but it was pretty close, at least on this day. Almost as good or as good as BlueZoo, and better than anything else on the Boardwalk or hotel.

OK, For the money I have to say i was not impressed for the money. I ordered Veal Parm and got just Veal Parm and it wasn't even tender. It was probably prepared much earlier and overcooked by the way the cheese was melted on top. I have been to many excellent restaraunts in many big cities so I like to feel I offer value to this review. I tried the bluezoo afterwards and even though they had a limited menu it was much better food for the money!

To continue our trip through Florida my wife and I met up with my parents and sisters family in Disney World as we do each year and each year we eat at IL Mulino. Once again I enjoyed my dinner very much. Upon arrival our party of 6 and an infant was seated immediately (we had a reservation and I suggest getting one) and they were very accommodating to our needs of having room for the infant seat. The staff was wonderful although we had two waiters through the night. Started with one, had another in the middle, and finished with the same one we started with. But who cares about that, they were both awesome! The food was amazing as always. I had the seafood risotto special as well as my sister and father. They both though it had too much seafood in it but I disagree as I always welcome more seafood into my meal. I cannot stand when you order a seafood dish and you get 1 shrimp, 2 scallops, and all pasta (or in this case, rice). Appetizers were also very good as the table ordered a lot. I highly suggest the meatballs and caprice salad as they were delicious. The calamari was almost all bread and no meat. I love this place as it is causal but upscale at the same time. The service and food was amazing although the big disappointment of the night was my wife's pizza. It was still good but came to us wrong. She wanted a margarita pizza with peperoni added and what came out was just a pepperoni pizza. But it was still good and anyone visiting Disney should check out this place!

We ate dinner at Il Mulino during a recent conference at a Disney resort. Good food, and the service was good. Produce in the meal was less than top quality, but probably also due to being out of season. The menu has a lot of selection on it, so it's fairly easy to please everyone in the group.

Absolutely loved this dining experience. How anyone could say Olive Garden is a step above this place is beyond me. Sampled a bit of everything our party of 4 ordered and it was all absolutely terrific! If you're in the area and crave Italian, you can't go wrong wtih Il Mulino.

Didn't have the opportunity to eat much here, but what I did was pretty good. It is a bit on the spendy side, but not any more so than the other Disney based restaurants. In fact, based on my experience this may be one of the better values. Decent portions, decent quality, pretty good service. Not to bad. If you are traveling with kids, this could be a challenging place. You need to get through the bar/lounge area, and if there are any conferences going on (and there always are) the lounge area can be very, very busy and difficult to navigate. Going on the early side could significantly mitigate the risk of being swallowed by 65 sales people in full on fun mode and your child somehow becoming the mascot for the night. When they do get busy, especially in the lounge area, service begins to suffer greatly. It seems they may be a bit understaffed compared to the activities going on in the hotel. All in all, I'd say its a go.

First of all, go to Bice at the Portofino Hotel; it simply blows Il Mulino away in terms of food quality, taste, service and atmosphere. Il Mulino smells and cooks as if its a fast food restaurant. Almost everything is greasy, and the food is ill-prepared. A simple personal pizza was grossly undercooked, A special Lobster dinner was soaked in butter (for hours I assume) as the meat was mushy and tasted like a stick of butter. The underlying vegetables were worse. The only item on the menu that was worth ordering was the clams in white sauce appetizer - that was excellent. The service was poor and the staff tried to offset the terrible lobster dinner ($50 entre) with free commercial deserts - I passed and will never return. its also funny that if you are 5-10 minutes early you will not be seated even though several table are open. So rather than allow me to sip some wine and relax, our party stood and wondered what was going on. Il Mulino damages the reputation of the world famous NY Italian restaurants. Remenber, go to Bice and you won't be disappointed.

Il Mulino's in name only. The is a poor imitation and the NYC should revoke the naming lisc asap. Hosted table if 5 and seated promptly. The waiter was an amateur. I ordered a bottle of 2005 and the waiter brings 2007. I point it out to him and he arrives back with the correct vintage. Anyway, we order dinner. The deliver one plate at a time and make one of my guest wait for his dinner while we all stair at our meals. This is not a scratch kitchen and pushes out prepared average Italian food at outlandish prices. If you go to NYC try getting a revs. This place should be avoided ! I've had better meals at Olive Garden and they were not $100 per person.

After reading reviews on this restaurant, I was very confused. Half said Il Mulinp in Orlando (Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotel) was fantastic and the other half said it was not. Last night we went to check it out and I'm no longer confused. It was, probably, the best dining experience I've ever had in Disney. I've eaten at all the fine dining places in Disneyworld. From the minute we walked in Il Mulino it was nothing short of wonderful. They were accommodating, pleasant, and provided incredible service. Being all Italian, I am very picky about ordering Italian food in a restaurant. Immediately they brought out a bread basket filled with fresh ciabatta bread and homemade focaccia with a plate of eggplant mixture and sliced dried salami. The drinks were topshelf and strong. The fried calamari was fried to perfection. You could actually see the calamari with just a slight coating. My husband had the shrimp cocktail and was amazed at how delicious it was. I ordered the penne regatta with whipped ricotta and marinara. My husband had rigatoni with bolognese sauce and Italian sausage. We both thought our food was amazing. Our waitress Katlyn was terrific and provided awesome suggestions and knew the menu perfectly. She customized our entree's to our special liking. The support wait staff was friendly and prompt. The manager, Tatiana, and her assistant Daniel, came to our table to make sure all was well. Who does that anymore? So, please go try this place. It isn't generic, typical Italian food. It was authentic and fresh. Anything can be cooked the way you like it. Great selection of menu items and different pasta sauces to choose from. We are actually going back in a few days to eat again. I don't know how anyone could not enjoy their food or appreciate the best service ever!! This will become a must do in Disney any time we are here. So, don't pay attention to any negative reviews. This place is fabulous. They will do backflips to make you feel special and create an incredible meal.

Hard to find Italian food this good outside NY! (Then again, everyone in Florida is from NY!) The prices for this restaurant are excellent compared to the quality of the food. I see people saying all over yelp that restaurants are "pricey". If you want chunky alfredo sauce and ravioli that falls apart for $10, go to Olive Garden. If you want modern italian cuisine, go to Il Milino! Pasta 5 Stars - Excellent sauces and Pastas. The selection is great! Some Fine Dining Italian restaurants will only feature 2 or 3 pastas or sauces. There are many to choose. I have been here 3 times since it opened in about 2006 I believe. My then girlfriend, and now wife (Proposed after dinner and Mandara Spa in the hotel!) have sampled Alfredo Tortellini and Gnocchi. Both were excellent. Great selection of Italian fish and seafood as well. Service - 5 stars very professional Atmosphere - 5 stars, not cramped, being from NY, I have eaten dinner sitting on top of many strangers. I saw some one else yelped a similar comment.

Pasta sauce watery, veal like shoe-leather, and New York prices. Total sham.

We just checked into the hotel and were lazy to be adventurous to find another place to eat. The photo in the elevator looked pretty good so on that whim, decided to check it out. (Not sure if I'd recommend that technique.) We went on a Wednesday night..not very busy. The hotel recommends you to make a reservation, but you won't need one on a Wednesday. Before we even started to order, they brought out a small tapa plate with roasted eggplant and italian salami. The bread selection came with a seasoned foccacia that was pretty good. We ordered the Mussels with White Wine Sauce for our appetizer. It was ok. I've had bigger and tastier mussels. I felt like pasta so I ordered the Rigatoni con Funghi. It says it has wild mushrooms but i just say some baby bellas and maybe one or two pieces of porcini. Nothing fancy. The truffle oil it came in was quite good! But, it was very very oily. So if you want a light sauce, don't get this. We also ordered the Seared Red Snapper. It was good, simple and a bit bland, but still ok. With a glass of wine, our bill came out to 120-130? I thought it was more expensive than some of the better meals I've had before. I probably won't be back if I'm in Orlando, unless I'm exhausted from a day's flight and don't want to leave the hotel.

The atmosphere was great, but otherwise not worth the price. Food was OK, but the wait staff seemed a bit condescending when I gave them my $25 gift certificate (guess they're only used to big spenders). Expect the jacked up Disney World prices.

Another good place to try out for a fancy dinner on your company's dime. Il Mulino is a sister restaurant of New York's famous Il Mulino Italian restaurant. It has a grand front entrace opening up into a cool bar area. The environment is perfect for hosting a special customer or group dinner with your coworkers. Il Mulino has a menu with tons of options - salad, pasta, Italian dishes, steaks, fish, and more with a strong wine list. My seafood risotto ($32) was good for the first few bites but it was too rich and creamy and skimped on the seafood portions. The dish was mostly rice with no more than 3-4 shrimps and little of much else. However, the Spanish wine we had from the wine list was terrific. In addition, the tartufo dessert (ice cream inside a chocolate shell) was fantastic and so hit the spot. Bottom line: good place for wining and dining on the company card. My dinner was so-so but the wine, dessert, atmosphere, and service were great.

For a hotel restaurant, albeit a transplant of one whose other locations include New York and Las Vegas, this place lived up to expectations and it was a nice experience getting to eat here while on business. I was alone and decided to sit in the lounge but my lovely waitress brought me the full menu and told me I could order anything. Awesome. I started with the caesar salad - a nice sized portion with a perfect amount of dressing. The croutons weren't very inspiring but still a good start to the meal. Well even still I opted for something on the lounge menu - a basic margherita pizza with buffalo mozzarella which they claim is freshly pulled. I requested a little bit of fresh garlic on top - they came through and this was a tasty pizza. I didn't think it was as good as Delfina or Picco, but I'd eat this again for sure. The cheese was chewy and very tasty, the sauce was sweet, the crust also enjoyable. Drank it with a glass of the 2002 Masi Valpolicella (felt like something different than Chianti) - drinking well and a good compliment to the pizza although I'm sure it could have stood up to richer food as well. As far as setting and decor this place does a good job - helps you feel for just an hour or two that you're not in Disneyworld surrounded by kids. The service here is really good too. I would try some other dishes here next time, such as the pastas. The veal is supposed to be one of the best things on the menu. Not sure when I'll be in Orlando again...but I'd go here again for sure!

I live in NY but have never gone to the one here. First time at the one in Orlando was a good experience. Thought the decor was nice (looks better than the actual hotel). Waitors were very friendly and attentive. Food was surpringly tasty! They accept the restaurant.com voucher so that was a good deal. Overall it was a good experience. Thumbs up!

Food was TERRIBLE. I had read the reviews which were bad but my friend made the reservation (a vegetarian). First, most of the pasta is NOT homemade. We got the homemade taglietele and the penne rigata dish but substituted homemade taglietele for the penne. both dishes were TERRIBLE. First, the pasta wasn't even fully cooked, it was still hard. The regular red sauce was watery and the penne rigata sauce was VERY bland and completely tasteless. Both dishes were barely warm. Like others have said, the bread and eggplant complimentary starter were delicious, but everything else was terrible. On top of that they rushed us in and out. We had ordered white wine and they put the bottle in ice for us a couple feet from our table and our glasses were empty for thirty minutes and they came by, took our dishes, brought us dessert menus which we reviwed and then declined considering how terrible the rest of the food was, was brought the check, and still didn't fill our wine until finally we asked them if they could. Shouldn't have to remind the waiter- especially since they must have forgotten since we had already been brought the check and it was picked up (that's when we asked for the rest of our wine). I was seriously shocked at how terrible the food was, especially a place that is supposed to be known for PASTA! and it's fine that it was basic, but not only could they get the sauce right, they didn't even cook the pasta itself correctly! And on top of that it was expensive. I have had way better in NYC an dother places for MUCH cheaper. Do NOT go here.

Avoid this horrible extravagance at all costs! My husband and I came here one night for bar food and drinks, and were digging it. Beautiful ambiance, strong, tasty drinks, and decent bar food. With an OK review on the bar, we decided to bring everyone in our party back there later in the week for an actual sit-down dinner. I ordered the manicotti special, my husband the Canelloni stuffed with meat, everyone else either veal or chicken parmigiano, except the kids who got penne with butter. When the dishes arrived, mine looked like enchiladas, as did my husband's, while everyone elses' looked like school cafeteria lunch-lady tackles Italian. Chef Boyardee has better presentation, and when you are shoveling out $40 a plate, you want it to look AT LEAST appetizing. The food was mediocre at best. Bland, boring, and amateur hour. To top it all off, my 12 year-old nephew's penne with butter cost $20. Did you churn the butter yourself? I know for a fact you did not hand-make the pasta, due to the lovely Decco Pasta box display in the center of your restaurant. Thanks for the reminder! I can buy that box of pasta for $5 at my local grocery store!

We used the Disney world app to reserve the table. It was relatively easy. We were seated quickly. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service. The food came quickly and tasted great. My wife and I decided to split an entree and a pasta and our server put them onto separate plates for us. The kids love the gelato, and our tiramisu was pretty good.

Il Mulino was the only restaurant at The Swan and Dolphin that I had not eaten at so when the I saw that it was part of Orlando's Magical Dining Month I knew that we had to go. I made a reservation for 2 for 6:45pm on a Saturday through Open Table. First, please note that it costs lots of money to park at the Swan, so make sure you get parking validation from the restaurant. Secondly, I had no idea how large the lounge was here. It is very large and I saw many people eating in the lounge, but the lounge was also loud and crowded. We arrived a few minutes early and checked it. We were seated right away. I didn't particularly love the location of our table. I was behind some sort of wooden slider door and couldn't see much of the restaurant. I was also right next to the waiter station, so there were tons of waiters coming up behind me to ring stuff in all night. They did not bring us the Magical Dining Month menus. We had to specifically ask for them, and I just thought about all of the poor tourists in there who had no idea that it was Magical Dining Month and were paying more for their entrée than we did for our whole meal. To be fair, it says on the Orlando Dining Month website that you may have to ask for it, but that wasn't my experience until here. I ordered a cocktail called a Piano, Piano. It had gin and lavender so I was sold. It was not as good as I had hoped though. It actually tasted like a sweet tart. For our appetizers my friend chose the Caesar salad which she said was good. I chose the meatballs, which other yelpers had raved about, but I was unimpressed. The sauce was way to thick and chunky for my taste. The outside of the meatball was browned more than I would have liked, but the flavors were good. Also the portions were large, not always the case with Magical Dining month. My friend's salad was a good size and I received 3 large meatballs. My friend ordered the salmon entrée and she loved it! It was normally $32 just for this entrée and MDM 3 course is only $33. Deal! I had chicken piccata, which is not on their normal menu, but is one of my favorite dishes ever. It was good chicken piccata and the portion was large, 2 whole chicken breasts, but I did not find it to be outstanding. I would've liked more sauce and definitely more capers. It was served on a bed of peas (yuck!). That being said, my mom ate some of my leftovers and told me it was the best chicken she ever ate. For dessert our portions were once again quite large. My friend had the chocolate cake and I had the cheesecake. Both were served in what looked like 2 whole slices. My friend did not finish her chocolate cake, but said it was good. The cheesecake was excellent, not too heavy, not too light, great texture. Overall, I'm glad I went, but if given the opportunity to eat at the Swan and Dolphin again I would choose Shulas or Bluezoo.

My wife and I dined here for dinners few months ago. The ambience is acceptable though not unique; tastefully appointed dining room. Wait staff was attentive though generally quiet and rushed, even though the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. We had the Arancini Fra Diavola for an app - it was fried perfectly, and the sauce was a nice pairing. Probably the best plate of food of the meal. It was really good. For main I had the veal Milanese, served under arugula, tomatoes, and onions and finished with fresh lemon. It was a heaping portion, and generally well executed, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. I also had a Caesar salad that fell flat and was sub-par - basically an after thought kind of effort by the kitchen. My wife had the seafood risotto, which was well conceived except for the curly blond hair in it (they removed the dish from the bill, someone in the kitchen not in code?). Wine was excellent, and the limoncello at the end was a nice touch. In all, a fair night, but nowhere near on par with the original NY spot, or even the Las Vegas outpost, which is miles better than the one in Orlando. If you are staying in the hotel on a corporate account, it's a fair choice. But a special trip here is not worth it. Note: the night we were there a couple brought their screaming infant to eat. I get that this is a Disney-ish resort (it's at the Swan), but some consideration to the kind of place you are dining in would be appreciated.

Came here on the magical dining month. The menu had a good selection, I started off with the meat balls and they tasted very good, sis chose the Insalata Trattoria and enjoyed the dressing. We also ordered the fried risotto balls and omg, they was awesome. Entrees, I ordered the chicken piccata, it was served with peas instead of capers. I loved it, the best piccata sauce I have tried. My sis got the tortellini Alla Panna, this was also another great dish, great flavor. Desert, I got the flourless chocolate cake and sis got the tiramisu both was very good. The decor was nice and service was great. It is located inside the Swan hotel. Will come back to try the regular menu

So I was only at the bar....Josh and Lexus were awesome. A bit of confusion with the value of the "free drink" certificate I had for being an SPG Gold member created the "4" vs "5" rating. My Tito's dirty martini was excellent.

We enjoyed magic dining here. We had great service. The meatball appetizer was outstanding. Hands down the best meatballs I have ever had. The Caesar salad was good but the spring greens salad was even better. The salmon enter was over the top good. The chicken Picasso was tasty. The desert was outstanding. It came with 2 pieces. The flourless chocolate torte was wonderful and the cheesecake was very good

The bar staff was beyond excellent and the wine list was impressive (but overpriced)! After our cocktails everything went downhill quickly though. FIrst our 8PM reservations were pushed back to almost 8:30 which wasn't a big deal as it gave us the opportunity to have a before dinner drink. The general appearance of the restaurant was not really all that impressive but for a restaurant on Disney property the seating was spread out and very comfortable. We were immediately served a complimentary starter of eggplant and italian bread. The bread was OK but was served dry without even a pat of butter, the eggplant dish was horrible. We choose the meatball appetizer and it was very good, in fact I would say they were the best meatballs I have ever had in a restaurant. That was the end of anything good happening during this meal. This restaurant was part of the Magical Dining program running in Orlando and we were taking advantage of that program. Once I informed the waiter of this, the quality of service immediately diminished. More than a half hour passed between our appetizer and entree and the same between entree and dessert. The entrees ordered were the Penne Rigate and the Tortellini Alla Panna, both were simply horrible. Both sauces were bland and obviously not freshly prepared in addition the pasta was overcooked and turned to mush easily the tortellini was served with peas that were obviously frozen. We only had a few bites it was so bad. For dessert we both ordered the Tiramisu. As we are both fans of this dessert we figured it was just as well we didn't eat too much of the entree as this is quite possibly the largest order of Tiramisu I have ever seen but it was a big disappointment. I ordered an espresso with my dessert and although it was freshly pressed and brewed it was not of the quality I am accustomed to. Without even asking the bill was reduced by 50% but that doesn't make up for the loss of a fine dining experience. The prices are very high considering the quality of the food. I would not dine here again and i would not recommend it to anyone I know.

The food was good. Ordered rigatoni with meat sauce. I like that they bring eggplant with the bread. The eggplant was delicious. However, they sat me in a corner and I feel like I was forgotten by the staff when it came time to order and refills. The waiter smoked an E-cigarette while taking my order so that wasn't classy it's also pretty loud.

I feel like a broken record...it is expensive if you are not considering the location in Downtown Disney. Okay, disregarding that and the price, I did enjoy the food and service. I had the broccoli rabe side dish with garlic, and it was amazing. I also had the minestrone which was unique. It also came with lovely breads. The server in the bar area was sweet and attentive. I could have sworn I was here years ago, and I would come back again (if I had a conference there yet again).

One of my favorite restaurants. I try to come here at least once a year when I'm at Disney. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice, the service is really good. I've had different pastas and fish entrees and everything has been great. Last trip I had the grouper cernia plate, and the fish was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend going here if you want a nice experience. Also if you are parking, they'll validate your parking, because Swan & Dolphin lots charge ~$20/day to park.

While the complimentary bread and appetizer was OK, our entrees were simply too salty to be edible. I had the papardelle and my husband had the penne. We both couldn't eat more than a few bites. I really hope our feedback made its way to the kitchen. Even without the salt issue they just weren't that good. The papardelle was a sticky mess and the penne was really like something you would get in a cafeteria. I honestly felt like we spent $50 on two entrees for nothing.

Came here for dinner after my conference as my colleague wants some good wine & some local sea food. We both opt for crispy calamari and Cernia for dinner. I recommend this place if you want a pleasant dinning experience. The host was good and knowledgable about the wines and the food. I'm not sure the Cernia was little bit salty type and I saw someone else also mentioned this in a check in review.

We understood we would have a Prix Fix menu, and the selection was good. However, don't expect the quality or style of cooking you get in NYC. The pasta and risotto were undercooked (not al dente because it was a little a crunchy). The Caesar dressing tasted bottled and not fresh and rimaine wasn't crispy. Worst slightly dirty gin martini ever. Noisy atmosphere. The main positive here was nice service.

  • Nichole M.

The food and wine list were excellent. But it was SOOOO loud, we had to get out entrees to go. Seriously, it was louder than dining at rainforest cafe with all those fake animals going off every five minutes. The wait staff was a little thin, but when he realized why we were leaving early, he was nice enough to credit us an appetizer, but we won't be returning until they do something about the acoustics.

Let me start off by saying that the waiters were very attentive which was great. But my entree on my sisters birthday was the worst way to cook grouper, and I wish my mom wasn't in those moods to tell you to finish your food so we don't get dessert because I SEVERELY did NOT want to finish my Food what so ever. I felt like the fish marinated in a bag of salt and a dash of pepper and fried slightly. I did not want to order pasta since it just makes me sleepy afterwards and wished to god I ordered a steak as well, but like I said my mom was in a mood and made comments about how I ALWAYS order steak(there's a reason though...being safer than sorry) so in that moment I had to order the stupid fish and god was obviously punishing me for whatever reason. When we go back to Orlando we will never come here again or the swan/dolphin hotels.

Once you are trapped in Disney World, there is little chance of escape unless you have an SUV with a battering ram. It's like riding the "It's a Small World" boat and knowing you have six continents left. I was there for a conference and didn't have much choice but to partake of the cuisine offered by the hotels there thanks to the generosity of the software partner firm that was hosting my attendance there. Why else would I end up in a middling trattoria like Il Mulino? I was there with approximately sixty other people of whom I met perhaps three before. The menu was already set with a predictably limited choice but I made do. One of the highlights came early with a varietal bread basket that featured prominent slices of focaccia with all sorts of herbs on top (see photo). That gave me a false sense of hope for the rest of the meal since the Insalata Caesar was quite generic with the odd appearance of asynchronous cherry tomatoes (see photo). I picked the Dentice as my entree, a seared red snapper with more cherry tomatoes alongside some pancetta and a white wine reduction, all sitting on top of some broccoli rabe (see photo). It was decent enough but lacking in originality when it came to flavor. Indeed it tasted somewhat like a hotel-catered meal. The highlight was the Dolci Trio, a dessert assortment that was difficult to maneuver since the table was in a bit of a disarray at this point. However, I managed to get a morsel of the Cheesecake All' Italiana and Torta Cioccolato, both of which were tasty. The best of the selection turned out to be the Tiramisu which lucky for me, I was able to secure more than just a sliver as others were engaged in conversation. Now that was quite delicious but not enough for me to reassess the bland dining experience that preceded it. It's probably the best restaurant that the Swan has to offer, which is saying something. It's a small world after all. FOOD - 3 stars...Italiano blando generico AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...signature posh for the Swan SERVICE - 3.5 stars...unintrusive TOTAL - 3 stars...a wholly unmemorable experience

I was looking forward to trying Il Mulino at the Swan, but was underwhelmed with the experience. The ambiance and staff were excellent! The food? Well, it was ok, but I was expecting much more out of a place like this. Unfortunately, in reading other people's reviews, I would characterize my experience as being par for the course. First, the service - my wine glass was never empty! The staff was very attentive to the group I was dining with - there were about 15 of us in total. The restaurant was well staffed, so there were several people tending to us. The food? Well, the pasta was just pasta. Mine was a bit overcooked, and I honestly don't remember the sauce. I also had the bone-in pork chop, which was nice - a generous cut, and nicely presented. The taste - well, I could have gotten something similar at a place like Outback. This restaurant shouldn't be on par with Outback... We finished with an assortment of deserts - flourless chocolate cake, tiramisu, and cheesecake. All three were very good. Possibly the best part of the meal.

One of your convenient restaurant options in the Swan, with average food and friendly albeit extremely slow service. Had the Arancini and calamari for starters, which were both good. They are both a safe bet for appetizers, and I would get either again. For salad, I had the insalata caprese. It was a smaller portion of mozarella, tomatoes and red peppers. It was pretty good (Do not forget the dressing, which you add yourself) The main dish was disappointing. I had the risotto al frutti di mare. It was mostly rice and cheese with a sprinkling of occasional seafood. It was too salty for my palate. The service is very friendly, but we all went periods of time with empty eater glasses. Given I was with a large group of 10, still the service was on the slower end and took about 2.5 hours to complete our meal. The food was okay, but it be prepared to commit a part of your evening for your meal.

The service was great and food was amazing. I had a mushroom pasta dish and my husband had penne pasta with meatballs. Both dishes were great. I liked that they had half size pasta dish options so we could also enjoy some appetizers. We would highly recommend Il Mulino for dinner.

This is a pricey but good Italian restaurant located off the lobby of the Swan. The menu is quite large and the staff well trained to explain every dish. We entered Via Napoli at the last minute when a thunderstorm canceled boat transportation to Epcot. We had also planned a casual dinner since we had a late lunch. Many upscale WDW restaurants might not be pleased with either of these situations but the staff didn't even flinch when I ordered a Marghenta pizza nd a Perroni beer. My wife wanted a pasta dish very low on salt and the staff described with details many menu items.. The pizza here is thin crust and while talking to nearby regulars, they picked the veal dishes as their favorites. What I disliked about the restaurant was how a meal can really add up in price since side dishes and pasta are extra items. I do not view garlic bread as a side dish, but a regular house compliment. The wines can really cost here if you are not selective. Good food comes with a high tab at this restaurant..

Wow - this is some amazing food. It all starts with a small free appetizer and ends with a complimentary drink. I had rigatoni con funghi and gelato. The rigatoni was divine! I ordered a 1/2 plate and it was still a generous portion. I love this place and I can't wait to go back!

For starters, to those who complain about price, I really don't get that. It's a Disney signature dining experience. It's expensive. It's Disney. If the pricing is objectionable to you, head over to International Drive or hwy 192 where there are plenty of Ponderosa steak houses and all-you-can-eat chinese buffets. Ate here on 7.23.14. The lounge area is very peaceful and relaxing. Sat on a couch where we were waited on by a delightful waitress. We then asked for a quiet dining table and were led to the 'perfect' table for us. This was our 3rd meal here. One thing we like is that service is provided by a team of 2 waitstaff. Service this time by Giuseppe and his partner. He was genuine and full of excitement as he described the entree's. I was starving by the time he finished his colorful and passionate speech. Complimentary starter, appetizer, entree's were all to die for. I always get the pounded veal that is topped with arugula. It is a great contrast of lightly breaded veal and very healthy greens on top. My wife always varies her entree choice and has never been disappointed. As another poster commented, the after-dinner limoncello is home made and if a bit sweet, is still a nice touch to the end of a meal. One of the nice things about this place is that it is not filled with 'we spent all day at the parks and are starving' kind of patrons. Yeah I know, it's Disney and we do expect that kind of clientele, but here folks seem more intentional about dressing up a bit and enjoying a dining experience rather than a 'feed me now' mentality. Will come here in the future, again and again. Can't wait until our next visit.

Everything is so salty. Margarita pizza w basil, Buffalo cheese, yet so salty. Icky. They did put extra fresh basil. Their cocktails are good. The lounge area up front is a nice bar, stay there and avoid their horrible food.

In the grand scheme of things, this might be one of the best restaurants located on the Walt Disney World property, mainly because it lacks large amounts of overbearing tourists, obnoxious children and ARAMARK food. The first few times I dined here it really impressed me. I studied abroad in Rome for a semester during my junior year of college and the dishes I enjoyed at Il Mulino brought me back for a half of a second. The standard bread and olive oil does make an appearance on the table when you first sit down, but a new twist on a classic dish accompanies the EVOO (as Rachel Ray would put it). Roasted eggplant to top your bread is a nice touch- it is not overly oiled and has the perfect texture and salt kick. Every time we dine here we order the Arancini; Arancini is a traditional Roman dish that is found on the streets of Rome for 1 EURO. Perfectly fried, these risotto balls pack a punch full of flavor. What is nice about this restaurant is that you can order half dishes of pasta (the full size dishes are huge, but what do you expect? you're in Disney World, and as I have heard from tourists before "calories don't count in Disney".) The first time I dined here I ordered a half order of the Rigatoni Con Funghi (Rigatoni with Wild Mushrooms, Spicy Cherry Peppers, Garlic and Truffle oil). The spice of the cherry peppers is not overwhelming and it creates a unique flavor when paired with the earthy truffle oil. The second time I dined here, I had the Bucatini Amatriciana (Bucatini Pasta, Rendered Pancetta and Onions, Finished with Marinara). Amatriciana is a traditional roman dish as well, which is served in every single restaurant in Rome. Il Mulino took every aspect of this dish and nailed it. The pancetta tasted straight from Italy and the red sauce was a mixture of sweet, salty and spicy to create a perfect authentic experience. My sister enjoyed the Vitello Parmigiana (Veal Parm)- and honestly, this thing was HUGE. It was the size of your head... I swear it could feed an army of twenty people. Presentation of this dish lacked- it was literally one piece of meat covered in cheese and sauce.. BORING compared to my dish. The final time I dined here was less than interesting. I went for the Carbonara, another traditional Roman dish that is HARD to screw up. Messing up Carbonara is like messing up toast. You just simply cannot do it. Well, Il Mulino succeeded in producing not only a lackluster and tasteless dish, but it was lukewarm. The egg had no flavor, the pancetta lacked its typical saltiness and the cheese was non existent. Really disappointed as this was my last memory of the place. But overall, a must do when in Disney- food quality is great and it has an unbeatable wine list. The atmosphere is dark and sultry which adds to the appeal- it is casual due to the fact that it is located in Walt Disney World, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT show up in park attire. The thought and time gone into these dishes should be the same amount of thought and time you put into your outfit selection. No one wants to see you having a vacation meltdown because you just spilled red sauce on your 2014 Disney Fanny pack and jorts.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
